Privacy
The short version: most tools here never send your file anywhere, and the ones that do delete it within the hour. No account, no tracking, no advertising.

Two kinds of tool, and the difference matters
Purffle Tools is split between tools that run entirely inside your browser and tools that run on our server. Which one you are using is stated on every tool page before you do anything, and the tool tells you again if a file is large enough to change the answer.

For these, your file is read by JavaScript running in your own browser, processed there, and handed back to you as a download. No copy of the file is transmitted to us or to anyone else. We do not receive it, so there is nothing for us to store, log, inspect or lose.
This is verifiable rather than something you have to take on trust: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the network tab, and run the tool. You will see no upload request.
Some of these tools declare a size above which the work moves to our server — because a very large file can exhaust a browser's memory. When that applies, the page says so in words before anything is sent. We never upload a file silently.
Tools that run on our server (80 of 182)
Some work genuinely cannot be done in a browser: recompressing the images inside a PDF, converting Office documents, removing a password. For these your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and processed on a server hosted by Railway.
What happens to it:
- Each job is given its own directory, named with a random identifier.
- Your file is written there, processed, and the result sent back to you.
- The directory is deleted immediately once your download has been written — not on a schedule, but as part of handling the request.
- A background process sweeps any directory older than one hour, which catches the case where a connection drops mid-transfer and the immediate deletion never runs. One hour is the outer bound; the normal case is seconds.
- We do not read, copy, index, analyse or retain the contents of your files, and we do not use them to train anything.
Passwords you enter for a protected PDF are used to open the file for the few seconds the operation takes. They are never written to disk and never logged.
What we log
Our server keeps ordinary web request logs: the time, the tool used, the HTTP status, and the IP address the request came from. These exist to keep the service running and to enforce rate limits so one user cannot exhaust the service for everyone else. File names and file contents are not logged. Logs are retained for a short operational period and then discarded.
Cookies and tracking
We set no cookies. There is no analytics script, no advertising network, no social media pixel, no session tracking and no fingerprinting. There is no account system, so there is nothing to sign in to and no profile to build.
Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. That request carries your IP address and is subject to Google's own privacy policy. It is the only third-party request the site makes.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, share or transfer your data to anyone.
- We do not require an email address or any personal detail.
- We do not place a watermark on your files or alter them beyond the operation you asked for.
- We do not keep your files to build a dataset.
Your rights
Because we hold no account data and retain no files, there is in practice nothing to request, correct or erase. If you believe we hold information about you and want it removed, write to purfflestore@gmail.com and we will deal with it.
Children
This service is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how files are handled will be described here rather than quietly amended.
