What makes these different
Most PDF sites upload your document to a server, process it there, and ask you to trust a retention policy. The structural tools here — merging, splitting, extracting, reordering, rotating — run entirely inside your browser using pdf-lib. There is no upload request to trust, and you can confirm that in your browser's network tab.
That matters because of what people actually put through these tools: signed contracts, bank statements, medical letters, passport scans for visa applications.
Where a server is genuinely needed
Compression, Office conversion and password removal cannot be done in a browser — they need image recompression, a full layout engine, or encryption support that the browser libraries do not provide. Those tools say so plainly, run in an isolated directory on our server, and the file is deleted as soon as your download has been sent.
