Create a ZIP file

Bundle files into a zip without uploading any of them.

Drop your file here

It is processed on your device — nothing is uploaded.

Up to 200 MB · 60 files at once · free · no signup
Photos and videos are already compressed — 'none' is faster and makes almost no difference to the size.

    Bundling files without uploading them

Drop in as many files as you like and get one zip back. The archive is built in your browser, so nothing is transmitted — which is the whole reason to use this rather than a site that wants your files first.

Duplicate names are handled: two files called photo.jpg become photo.jpg and photo (2).jpg rather than one silently overwriting the other.

    Choosing a compression level

This matters more than people expect, and the intuition is usually backwards.

None is right for photos, videos, music and PDFs. Those are already compressed, and running them through zip again saves perhaps one percent while taking far longer. Zipping a folder of JPEGs at maximum compression is close to pure wasted time.

Fast suits mixed contents and is the sensible default. Best is worth it only for text, spreadsheets, code and logs, which can compress by 80% or more because they are full of repetition.

    What a zip is for

Mostly for making many files into one, not for making them smaller. Email attachments, upload forms and file transfers all deal better with a single archive, and a zip preserves the exact bytes of everything inside it.

    No encryption here

This does not password-protect archives, deliberately. Standard zip encryption is weak, and the strong variant is not universally supported — so an encrypted zip is often both insecure and unopenable. For genuinely private files, encrypt the file itself, or password-protect a PDF, which uses AES-256.

    Size limits

Bounded by your device's memory, since the archive is assembled there. Very large sets are better handled by your operating system's own zip, which streams to disk.

    Common questions

    Are my files uploaded?

No. The zip is built in your browser and nothing is transmitted.

    Which compression level?

None for photos and videos — they are already compressed. Best only for text, code and spreadsheets.

Why did my zip of photos barely shrink?

JPEG is already compressed. Zip has almost nothing left to remove.

    Can I password-protect it?

Not here. Standard zip encryption is weak and the strong variant is poorly supported. Encrypt the file itself instead.

    What about duplicate filenames?

They are renamed rather than overwritten — photo.jpg and photo (2).jpg.

How many files can I add?

Up to sixty, limited mainly by your device memory.
