Losing the pages you do not want
Blank backs from a double-sided scan, a cover sheet a form does not need, a fax header, an appendix that is not relevant. Deleting builds a new PDF without them and leaves your original alone.
The pages field takes single numbers and ranges together: 1, or 2, 7, or 1, 15-20, 44. Everything you do not name is kept.
Pick the tool that needs the shorter list
Deleting and extracting are exact opposites, and the only question worth asking is which list is shorter to type. Removing three pages from a hundred: delete. Keeping three pages from a hundred: extract. People often reach for the wrong one and then fight a very long range expression.
Numbering does not renumber
Page numbers printed onto the pages themselves are part of the content and stay exactly as they were — delete page 5 and the page that follows still says "6". If you need the printed numbers to run in sequence again, add fresh ones with Add page numbers afterwards.
Deleting everything is refused
A range that would remove every page returns an error rather than an empty document, because an empty PDF is never what anyone wanted and some readers will not open one at all.

Under 250 MB the whole operation happens in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, which is worth having when you are removing a page precisely because it contains something you would rather not circulate.
A note on removal versus redaction
Deleting a page removes it completely — the content is gone from the new file, not hidden. That is genuinely different from drawing a black box over text, which leaves the text underneath and is how redaction failures make the news.

Can I delete every page?
