Auto uses the first clip's height. Clips of different sizes are scaled to match, since a video cannot change resolution mid-stream.

Clips that do not match are the whole problem

Joining videos sounds trivial and usually is not, because clips from different sources rarely share a resolution, frame rate, codec or pixel format. The fast method of joining — copying the streams end to end without re-encoding — requires all of those to match exactly.

When they do not, the fast method still produces a file. It plays the first clip and then freezes, or the audio drifts steadily out of step. That looks like a broken tool rather than a mismatch, which is why so many joiners feel unreliable.

So every input here is normalised first: scaled to a common height, padded rather than stretched so a portrait clip keeps its shape, set to a common frame rate, and re-encoded. It takes longer and it always works.

    Order

Clips join in the order shown in the list, and the arrows move them. Worth checking before you start — dropping in a folder gives you whatever order the operating system offers, which is rarely the order you filmed in.

    Silent clips

A clip with no audio track would normally break a join, because the audio streams have to line up with the video ones. Silence is generated for those clips instead, so a screen recording without sound merges cleanly with a filmed one.

    Resolution

On auto, the first clip's height sets the output. Choosing explicitly is worth it when the first clip happens to be the lowest quality — otherwise everything else gets scaled down to match it.

    Length limit

Fifteen minutes across all clips together, because the whole job has to finish inside one request. Trim first if you are over, or merge in two passes.

    Common questions

Can I merge clips of different sizes?

Yes. Every clip is scaled and padded to a common frame, which is why this works where fast joiners produce a file that freezes after the first clip.

    Will portrait clips be stretched?

No. They are padded to fit rather than distorted.

What if one clip has no sound?

Silence is generated for it so the join still lines up.

How do I change the order?

Use the arrows next to each file. They join top to bottom.

How long can the total be?

Fifteen minutes across all clips, since the job must finish inside one request.

    Does it lose quality?

A little — joining mismatched clips requires re-encoding. There is no way around that.
